I really like the idea of targeting Giddey. He’s perfect for the Spurs in many ways, including the fact that the Thunder can’t maximize him.

There are two reasons I think this trade is unlikely:

1) The Spurs will label him as not a “high character” guy because of the rumors/allegations this season. Of course, the Spurs only roster the classiest of players.

2) The Thunder would recognize what Giddey could do on the Spurs and how they might be contributing to an arch rival. The Thunder already have all the draft picks in the world so it’s not like the Spurs have anything that the Thunder need / have to have.

I hadn’t thought about Giddey but he’s the perfect trade. He’s slightly undervalued, big, willing passer, improved three point shooter, etc.
