Wemby Watch: Victor Not the Boss (Yet), Sits Finale vs. Pistons
After the thrilling win against defending champs, Victor had quite an interesting post game interview with the announcing team of Sean Elliott and Bill Land.
Sean Elliott first noted that Victor lost the battle with Pop to play OKC earlier in the interview.
Later, Bill Land brought up the possibility Pop sits him vs. Detroit because of minutes played and stated, “we’re behind you if it matters.”
Sean chimed in, “Victor, tell Pop you’re the boss.”
Wemby responded, “He knows already.”
Here’s the clip:
Well, Victor didn’t play Sunday against Detroit so Pop still has the final say, but some strong truths shone through in this light exchange.
First, Bill Land and Sean Elliott were both openly against Pop sitting Victor. And Sean encouraged Victor to take a stand against Pop, telling him that he’s the most powerful person in the organization (which he is).
And Victor acknowledged that he knows.
Although Victor didn’t get his way in this season’s final game, this exchange holds meaning going forward.
Pop’s ways are growing tiresome and they won’t be tolerated for long.
More on this in my Spurs season wrap up articles coming your way very soon.
