Wemby Watch: We’ll Take The Win Energy + I Didn’t Watch Blazers Game

Due to travel and NBA League Pass requiring that you wait 3 hours after the game to view it, I didn’t watch the Spurs vs. the Blazers. I just didn’t have the 2 am to 3:30 am film session in me.

So what I’ve done is scan the box score and watch the game highlights on YouTube to provide you in-depth analysis.

Am I kidding you?

Yes, this is the one time an NBA commentator is actually kidding you.

I’m always irked when NBA color guys exclaim, “Are you kidding me?” after a highlight.

No, no one is kidding you.

The play just happened. You saw it. Come up with something better to demonstrate enthusiasm than “are you kidding me?”.

Anyway, any Spurs win is a good win (there can’t be any squinting when you’re a team that’s trying to crawl out of the cellar). And given that the Blazers had 3 wins under their belt to match the Spurs 3–5 record, it’s not like the Spurs beat the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Blazers may end up becoming a legitimate competitive team.

And this won’t be in-depth analysis so my box score joke still holds, but I have my suspicions about Wemby shooting just 13 shots.

My suspicion is this continues his current trajectory of going from killer to devenomized.

Moving on, the big 3 I’ve lambasted from last season to last game, turned in amazing shooting numbers.

Malaki Branham, Zach Collins, and Blake Wesley shot a combined 16–19 from the field.

I’m not taking anything back, but it’s lovely to see some contributions.

Had they shot just 50%, do the Spurs win?

Maybe not.

4–5 and we’re on to the Utah Jazz on Saturday.
