Gregg Popovich is a control freak with obsessive compulsive disorder who refuses to play the 20 year old rookie sensation that everybody wants to see.

Victor has fallen for the “long-term” story Pop has sold him while Pop openly tanks this season. I’m surprised Victor fell for it. He definitely loses some of his competitive points for going along with throwing away his rookie season.

There’s absolutely no reason Victor can’t play both against Charlotte and against the Wizards in a back-to-back.

Actually, there is a reason, Gregg Popovich has used the Spurs medical staff as a shield to issue an arbitrary mandatory minutes restriction and a no-playing on back-to-backs mandate.

Victor is completely healthy within any reason. He hurt his ankle weeks ago and now he’s fine.

I’ve written about Pop’s OCD on not wanting to Victor to play basketball extensively over the season.

Even when Victor didn’t tweak his ankle, he was only averaging 30 minutes per game.
